The Indonesian government has decided to abolish the PCR and antigen test regulations for domestic tourists who comply with these regulations. Domestic tourists include those who use private or public cars, crossings, intercity trains and air, sea or land transportation throughout Indonesia.

This policy is written in Circular No. 11 of 2022 concerning Domestic Travelers, a number of domestic travelers do not need to undergo PCR and antigen tests. This policy will be implemented on Tuesday, March 8, 2022.

However, this policy does not apply to everyone. Here are some standards for domestic travelers who do not have to attach proof of PCR and antigen tests:

1. Travelers who have received the second or third dose of vaccination (booster) do not need to show negative PCR and antigen tests. Travelers are only required to show proof that they have been vaccinated.

2. Travellers under the age of 6 years are also not required to have PCR and antigen test results, but with assistance and strict application of health protocols.

3. For travelers who routinely travel overland by land transportation, the results of the PCR and antigen tests do not need to be included if the destination of the traveler is in the same area. And every passenger must comply with applicable health protocols.

4. Provisions on the abolition of PCR and antigen tests also apply to travelers who are in disadvantaged, frontier, outermost areas.

Travelers are also required to use the Peduli Lindungi application as a condition for traveling domestically. Travelers who have just received the first dose of vaccination must have a negative PCR test result within 3 x 24 hours or a rapid antigen test within 1 x 24 hours before departure as a condition of travel.

Travelers with special health conditions that prevent them from receiving vaccines are also required to show a negative PCR test result within 3 x 24 hours or a rapid antigen test within 1 x 24 hours before departure as a condition of travel. And include a doctor's certificate from the Government Hospital stating you have not or cannot take the Covid-19 vaccination.

Even though the government has lifted the restrictions on PCR and antigen testing, travelers still have to comply with current health protocols. Everyone must implement health protocols. Namely, wearing masks, maintaining distance, avoiding crowds, and washing hands with soap or hand sanitizer.

The Covid-19 Handling Task Force with the support of the Public Transport Authority will continue to monitor, manage, and evaluate the policy.
