After resting for approximately two years, the Kamisan Solo action was again held yesterday afternoon (10/3/2022). Taking place as usual at the Slamet Riyadi roundabout, the 78th Kamisan Solo Action was held as a form of solidarity for the Wadas residents.

The cloudy and drizzly weather did not discourage the participants. This Kamisan Solo action was attended by many parties, there were students from various universities, the urban poor, laborers, farmers, journalists, and even students.

Opened with an oration at around 17.00 WIB, the participants immediately called for their demands that the repressive actions of the apparatus against Wadas residents be stopped, and that the government should stop seizing people's living space.

The participants' orations responded to each other with the noise of passing vehicles, even so, they continued to shout loudly without caring about the squeaking vehicles around. They wanted the general public to know that human rights violations are taking place in this country, they wanted the citizens of Wadas to know that there are people who fully trust and support friends in Wadas there.

Not only oration, several action participants voiced their opinions and told stories about Wadas village, about how Wadas residents resisted, about how Wadas residents were silenced, about how Wadon Wadas protect nature, about how those in power changed the narrative to make conflict from vertical to horizontal.

The 78th Kamisan Solo action was also marked by several banners, one of which read “Tuanku ya Rakyat INVESTOR. Gubernur cuma Mandat Disuruh MEGAWATI”. The participants also enlivened the action by singing the song "Buruh Tani".

Regarding the Kamisan Solo action itself, why was it rested for two years, Mohammad Hisbun Payu or Iss, one of the coordinators of the Kamisan Action, replied that the Covid-19 pandemic was the main cause.

"The Kamisan action, which is like reviving and being directly involved, mostly from outside the city, maybe because they are students, yes, some may work here, but in the early moments of the pandemic many of them returned home. Finally, a few people who live in Solo think we should just take it off first. So we are taking the day off while we hope that the pandemic will end soon.” added Iss when asked further.

Iss also said that there was actually an intention to hold a Kamisan Solo action at the end of last year when the PPKM status of Solo City dropped to level 2, but they abandoned that intention because after that the PPKM status rose to level 3. Moreover they did not want to have problems with the apparatus, considering the activities of traders who are often dismissed because of PPKM, especially if the activity is the Kamisan action.
