Finally, the graduation of the Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta (UMS) was carried out offline after being delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the graduation was held on June 25, 2022 at the Edutorium of KH. Ahmad Dahlan UMS which is address in Karangasem, sub-district Laweyan, Surakarta City. In addition, it turns out that this year is the first full offline graduation since the Covid-19 pandemic. This time, UMS graduated 1,287 undergraduates and 84 postgraduates.
The graduation process this time started with the singing of Indonesia Raya and Sang Surya then continued with the reading of the Al-Quran and the opening of the event by the Chancellor of UMS, Prof. Dr. Sofyan Anif, he also said that UMS would open 15 new study programs. And then the special agenda was conveying messages and impressions from the best graduate from the Faculty of Communication and Information, namely Pasha Bhimasty. In the middle of conveying the impressions and messages that were moved and solemn, Pasha gave a surprise to the Chancellor of UMS, Sofyan Anif, who at that time was 59 years old.
Sofyan Anif was both happy and touched when he received the gift of flowers, "Thank you, I didn't expect to get a surprise on stage," said the Chancellor with tears in his eyes, unable to contain his happiness.
"Be a student who always spreads achievements everywhere, be a UMS graduate who always strengthens social piety, we will always do good things to anyone regardless of differences in religion, ethnicity, race, skin color, it has become our obligation as a Muslim, especially as an educated Muslim.," said Sofyan Anif to graduates.
The parents and guardians of the graduates who were also present at the graduation ceremony yesterday certainly felt happy and proud because they could accompany and witness their child's graduation in person. Parents and guardians as well as special guests were given seats to the right and left of the graduates and in the stands above the auditorium to watch the graduation ceremony which went smoothly yesterday.
