Nowadays, so many teenagers don't live healthy life. There are many reasons for that but before that, we need to know what is Health? What is a healthy lifestyle?
The meaning of health has evolved. From the perspective of biomedical models, the initial definition of health focused on the body's ability to function. Health is seen as a condition of the body functioning normally which can be disturbed by disease from time to time. According to WHO Health is defined as "physical, mental and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease and infirmity". Therefore health is important, it needs to be maintained.
Some so many teenagers don't take care of their health, so nowadays the term elderly teenagers often appear. Elderly youth is a term used to describe young people who experience aches, fatigue, colds, and back pain.
There are many causes for this decrepit teenager, mainly because they often underestimate Health itself, and here are some other causes:
1. The first cause is a lack of physical activity, where a study conducted by the University of Georgia revealed that a 20-minute walk or aerobic exercise three times a week can increase energy by up to 20 percent. So that the lack of physical activity makes teenagers feel achy and tired quickly.
2. The second factor is the wrong sitting position, this makes teenagers easy to get sick and sore due to the long sitting duration without any stretching, and the parts that often hurt are the back and waist.
3. The third factor is anemia or lack of blood, anemia itself is characterized by a lack of hemoglobin levels, where the function of hemoglobin itself is to bind oxygen and circulate it to all body tissue cells.
4. The fourth factor is stress, adolescents often experience stress due to social life problems, such as work relationships, romance, friendships, and academic problems. These pressures create a mild level of stress, but if left unchecked will make teenagers depressed.
5. The fifth factor is an unhealthy lifestyle. A healthy lifestyle is a life that is free from mental and physical health problems. Some so many teenagers don't pay attention to their lifestyle, by rarely exercising, eating instant foods, excessive stress, and so on. Therefore, it is necessary to apply a healthy lifestyle, but it should not be arbitrary, because it needs to be adjusted to age, gender, level of physical activity, health conditions, and even eating habits. The following are steps that can be applied to lead a healthy life, including:
1. Eat Healthy with Balanced Nutrition
This is very important so that the body can grow, develop, and carry out its functions optimally. If you are still stuck in unhealthy eating habits, start by listing all the foods you eat every day. This note is useful as a reminder so you can limit or increase consumption. To live a healthy life, you should at least eat fruits and vegetables in addition to meat and other sources of carbohydrates.
2. Regular Exercise
This activity is very much ignored by teenagers, because they are busy with other activities, or because they feel lazy, even though with the right exercise and at the right time it can make blood circulation smooth, and strengthen muscles and bones.
3. Manage Stress Well
It is undeniable, that stress is also one of the things you should avoid to get maximum health. Indeed, the heavy burden of life can bring stress, but you have to be smart to manage it. When stress hits, the physical symptoms you can feel are headaches, stomach pains, increased high blood pressure, chest pain, and difficulty sleeping.
To overcome this, you can take time to relax and do things you enjoy. Some things, such as yoga or meditation, can also be done to avoid stress. In addition, it is also important to be grateful so that the mind and heart remain calm. Spiritual health will also affect overall physical health, so you can't ignore it.
4. Rest Enough
To get a healthy body and mind, you can also get it by getting enough rest. Make sure your sleep hours are always met and get used to sleeping and waking up at the same time. If you find it difficult to sleep, you can try taking a warm bath, reading a book, or listening to music to relax your body and make it easier to fall asleep.
