After two years the Expo UKM (Student Activity Unit) of UMS (Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta) was held online due to the Covid-19 pandemic, finally on 27 August 2022 the Expo activity could be held again very rousing. This year's UKM Expo was held at the magnificent Edutorium KH Ahmad Dahlan UMS and was attended by around 8000 new students and featured a total of 27 UKM in UMS.
Head of UMS Student Affairs Bureau, Ir. Ahmad Kholid Alghofari, ST, MT said that "It's been 2 years because there is a pandemic everything is done online and Alhamdulillah this year we can start organizing offline and this is an experiment with all new students, including this building loaded with more than 7000 new students this time. It was also an experiment before the congress (red: 48th Muhammadiyah congress)."

Kholid also conveyed that the purpose of this UKM expo was as a closing series of welcoming new students, the UMS management accepted that all new students had become part of the UMS family. They were introduced to the campus and from UMS provided support so that, they would later become part of UMS students who can give a positive image and certainly bring the good name of UMS.
In addition, the Expo this time also raised a relaxed concept, so that students were not required to wear certain clothes, they were even allowed to wear t-shirts. This is for consideration so that students understand that to be superior at UMS is not only through academic competence but also must have soft skills. This can be obtained well through organizations so the main purpose of this expo is to introduce SMEs in the university.
"Millennial generation children have a distinctive character, they tend not to want rigid activities with a tedious duration of time, finally this entertaining concept is adopted, and Alhamdulillah our management is also very supportive. They also want that the new students really can be part of UMS later to be more superior." added Kholid.
